Position Overview: Under the direction of the Culinary Services Director, the cook performs all cooking responsibilities for residents, Sisters, and the Guest Dining Room so that prepared food can be served in accordance with established schedules. He/she is responsible for all aspects of hot food preparation as well as baked items for all entities on campus. Assures adherence to the Sisters of Mount St. Francis Mission Statement and philosophy, values, and standards, as well as policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
People: The Cook will participate as a member of our team, helping to meet all schedules and deadlines, and will communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and internal customers, promoting a positive and successful operation.
Quality: The Cook assures the timely, efficient, and proper preparation of food items, using Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards. The Cook completes required documentation, coordinates the timing of food preparation to meet indicated deadlines, documents refrigeration temperatures, assures cleaning tasks are completed daily, and performs all tasks using sanitary equipment to ensure the safety of all food items served.
Operational Excellence: The Cook prepares food according to established menus and standardized recipes in amounts indicated, using HACCP guidelines, and assures items are the correct temperatures before serving. The Cook delivers and retrieves food items from the Sisters’ Dining Room, refrigerates leftover food quickly, labels, covers, and correctly stores all unused food items, follows all quality and safety standards, and fulfills the dietary requisitions for the Nursing Center Nutrition Services Department.
- Experience as a Cook in a commercial setting
- Must be service-minded
- Ability to organize time, priorities, and schedules for adherence to deadlines
Schedule: 32- 40 hours per week – Depending on the work load, we will strive for 2 consecutive days off weekly.
