Position Overview: Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager and Culinary Services Director, the responsibilities of the Host/Hostess include setting up the food service in the Guest Dining Room and Franciscan Retreat Center meeting rooms, preparing some food and beverage items, assisting in kitchen and dining room clean-up, keeping supplies stocked, and various other duties supporting kitchen operations and meal service.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

People: The Host/Hostess must work in a team environment with other kitchen staff and provide a friendly, welcoming face to guests and department representatives.

Quality: The Host/Hostess supports Culinary Services Department in providing safe, quality meals and snacks to residents and guests at Mount St. Francis.

Operational Excellence: The Host/Hostess must adhere to all operational procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the dining room and will perform other duties as required by the Director or Kitchen Manager. 

Qualifications:

Must be service-minded and reliable

Ability to organize time, priorities and schedules, adhering to deadlines

Solid track record of success in previous assignments

General knowledge of kitchen operations and/or food preparation is helpful

Position Overview:  Under the direction of the Director of Culinary Services, the Sous Chef shares responsibility for all associates in the department who are engaged in achieving the highest standards in food quality and presentation at Mount St. Francis, to include the nursing center residents, retreat center guests, the Sisters, and special events.  

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

People: The Sous Chef will assign and coordinate work of department associates, and assist in hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating staff. Assist Dietician in planning menus. The Sous Chef will assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director.

Quality: The Sous Chef will ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen processes and procedures following state and federal regulations, order and receive food and supplies, and inspect kitchen, dining areas, utensils, and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met.

Operational Excellence: The Sous Chef will oversee the preparation and service of food for the entire campus, ensuring proper temperature and quality, as well as timeliness of meal service. 

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited culinary school preferred
  • Previous Sous Chef experience is preferred
  • One to three years culinary experience is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite in a business environment
  • Certification in approved sanitation course
  • Must have an understanding of dietary needs and modified diets

Schedule: 40 hours per week, days and work times will vary.
