Position Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Scheduling Coordinator schedules and provides adequate nursing staff coverage to meet resident needs based on budgeted staffing ratios. The Coordinator completes daily tasks that help to maintain the continuity and quality of care for the residents and supports the nursing and ancillary department associates and managers as directed.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
People: Completes nursing monthly/daily staffing schedules within established staffing guidelines to ensure continuity and quality of care for the residents; manages time off and altered schedule requests under the supervision of the DON for nursing associates per facility needs/guidelines; receives call off/tardy notifications and replaces/notifies nursing staff as necessary. The Coordinator maintains an accurate list of nursing associate discharges and openings and coordinates with HR in running ads and ensuring open nursing positions are listed on the Mount St. Francis website as well assists in reviewing applications and interviewing potential candidates for the nursing department. The Coordinator works with HR in running backgrounds and OIG checks, completing new hire paperwork and setting up orientations for new hires. The Coordinator manage doctor appointments for residents, by scheduling appointments timely, managing resident/family notifications, arranging transportation and providing appropriate medical records for the appointment. The Coordinator will deliver supplies as needed/directed to units; assist with answering call lights, assisting with two person transfers and during meal time in the dining rooms as needed/directed. The Coordinator may be required to provide direct resident CNA care or resident transportation services.
Quality: The Coordinator maintains accurate attendance records for the nursing department and reports issues to the DON; prepares nursing evaluations and disciplinary action related to attendance issues for the DON and ensures that they are completed timely; tracks infection control illnesses/call offs of nursing associates and reports daily to infection control nurse; reviews and approves payroll hours for the nursing department; assists other departments as needed, follows infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards.
Operational Excellence: The Coordinator maintains current licensure/certification on all applicable nursing department associates and ensures compliance with renewals, oversees the rotation of stock and expiration dates in central supply, and assists with purchasing supplies from local business as directed. The Coordinator will assist with administrative duties such as safety rounds and routine audits/resident interviews as directed.
Schedule: Average 40 hours per week, with after-hours/holiday on-call responsibilities and overtime as directed.
