Overview: Under the direction of Nursing Center management, the RN is responsible for providing prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons in the Nursing Center. Typical responsibilities include administering medications, keeping accurate records, taking vitals, dressing wounds, giving enemas, collecting samples for analysis, assessing residents and responding to their changes/needs, updating care plans, and assisting residents with basic needs and comfort. May make beds, bathe and feed residents, and supervise others. Nurse shall provide direct nursing care according to all organizational policies and procedures. MDS responsibilities include conducting and coordinating comprehensive assessments which includes the MDS, RAPS and interdisciplinary assessment for initial, quarterly and significant changes. Assure the accuracy of the MDS through communication and documentation. Assists in coordinating the completion and accuracy of the individual resident’s care plan and the Medicare A coverage and documentation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
People: The RN will work as a member of our team ensuring the timely and appropriate care of residents. He/she will communicate effectively with co-workers and Nurse Manager and will be attentive and sensitive to the needs of the residents, help to establish and maintain an atmosphere conducive to rest, quiet, and peaceful living, and provide a safe and clutter-free environment. Schedule care conferences and invite families/residents to attend; determine the reason for Med A coverage, and coordinate with therapy office, and nursing; coordinate care plan development for accuracy, completion and attendance by all disciplines.
Quality: The RN must adhere to all safety and procedural requirements in order to provide quality care. He/she must follow the documented care plan, accurately transcribe physician orders, and record all resident care. RN/LPN must maintain a Colorado RN or LPN license and must report any injuries or unsafe conditions to management immediately. Prepares Quality indicator summaries, and Quality Measures summaries.
Operational Excellence: The RN will participate in care planning, admissions and discharge processes, and orientation of new staff. He/she will attend in-service training and seminars, participate on committees, and perform all work with high ethical and performance standards. The RN/LPN will be dependable and reliable in attendance. Schedule, track and assure completion of MDS and documentation timely, submit complete and accurate MDS to State agency, conducts triple check on Med A claims in conjunction with office and medical records, and follows safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards.
Schedule: Average 32 – 40 hours per week.
